Fairmont Junior High first implemented AVID in 2006, with approximately 85 students.

As a result of implementing AVID strategies schoolwide and having a strong AVID system in place, Fairmont became an AVID National Demonstration School in 2011. It is one of approximately 250 Demonstration schools across the country, and the first one in the state of Idaho.
