A Message from Our Superintendent
Dear Boise School District Community,
I am Lisa Roberts, your Superintendent, and it is my honor to welcome you to a new school year! Boise School District is a high-performing, nationally-recognized, comprehensive public school system committed to academic excellence, student well-being, and preparing students for success in college, career, and citizenship. With a diverse range of programs and a dedicated team of educators, Boise School District strives to empower every student to reach their full potential.
Serving approximately 22,500 students and employing 4,300 people, including 1,700 certified staff, our district encompasses 33 elementary schools, 8 junior high schools, and 5 senior high schools. We offer specialized programs such as our new Lincoln Early Learning Center for pre-k students, Montessori, Dual Language, Full-Day and Highly Gifted programs at the elementary level, free District-wide Full-Day Kindergarten, Boise Online School, and advanced opportunities like the Treasure Valley Math and Science Center, Dennis Career & Technical Center, and the state’s preeminent Advanced Placement program at the secondary level. Boise Schools provides an inclusive and supportive learning environment, a student-centered learning model, and a wide variety of rich and rewarding experiences and programs that allow students to be successful.
The results of our efforts are impressive:
- Five of our secondary schools received the “Best High Schools” designation from U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 Best High Schools rankings. Boise, Borah, Capital, and Timberline High Schools earned high national and metro-area rankings, as did Boise Online School - Secondary.
- Our students outperform Idaho and the nation on standardized tests, college entrance exams, and Advanced Placement testing.
- Our college-going rate of 73% is one of the highest in the state.
- We have more National Merit Scholar Semi-Finalists than any other district in the state.
- Our music and career and technical education programs are nationally recognized.
- We are a nationally accredited AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Demonstration School.
- Our District boasts some of the state's highest-performing elementary and secondary schools.
- We receive countless statewide and national recognitions for individual schools, students, and staff.
- We offer 25 Advanced Placement courses, providing thousands of secondary students with rigorous and relevant coursework to prepare them for college and career success.
Boise Schools is committed to fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We have an exceptional team of educators, staff, and administrators dedicated to providing the highest quality education and support to our students. Our high-quality teaching staff is a testament to this commitment, with more than 75% of our teachers holding a Master’s Degree and more than 64% having 11 years of experience or more.
