Advanced Opportunities

Advanced Opportunities
Student access window for summer classes will open in April

Advanced Opportunities Program
The Advanced Opportunities program provides every 7th-12th grade student attending an Idaho public school an allocation of $4,125.00 to use towards:

Dual Credits
Dual credit courses are transcribed on both high school and college transcripts. The Advanced Opportunities program can pay for up to $75.00 per credit. Funds will pay for the cost of the course fee only. Any other expenses must be paid out of pocket (i.e. lab fees, books, part-time student fees, etc.).  Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 2 credits per semester at their school to qualify for dual enrollment.
Find out more about dual credit here.
Exams
Students can utilize funds to pay for a variety of college-credit bearing or professional technical exams. These include Advanced Placement (AP), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), or Career & Technical Education (CTE) exams.
College entrance exams and proctoring fees are now an allowable expense from Advanced Opportunities and available.
Overload Courses
An overload course is a high school level course that is taken in excess of the student's regular school day and is above and beyond the full course load taken at the student's school (6 credits per semester). These courses can be taken online, during summer, and after school. The Advanced Opportunities program can pay up to $225.00 per overload course if costs are involved.

Workforce Training Courses
WTC courses are offered through the Workforce Training Centers at NIC, LCSC, CWI, CSI, ISU and CEI and are aligned to regionally in-demand occupations. Students can use up to $500 per course, $1,000 per year towards the cost of these non-credit courses.  Check with Boise District Career Technical Education Instructors for approved courses.
