Built in 1912, Collister is overcrowded and outdated. With multiple portable classrooms and one of the District’s smallest combined cafeteria-gym-auditorium, Collister ranked in the bottom third on all three major 2016 Facilities Audit categories (Utilization, Educational Adequacy and the Facilities Condition Index).
A completely remodeled and expanded school will help meet modern education standards while preserving an historic neighborhood school.
February 8, 2023 Update: The Collister addition/remodel is being designed by LKV Architects and managed by Beniton Construction. Bids will be opened on February 23, 2023. Construction will start summer of 2023.

activities are underway and will be completed in August 2024.

September 6, 2023: The project was designed by LKV Architects and is managed by Beniton Construction. Gym and elevator footings and foundation walls are complete. Mason will mobilize and begin wall construction next week. Structural remediation work has begun in the existing building. Construction will be completed in August 2024
