Important Message Regarding
Planning for Second Semester

November 2, 2020

Dear Boise School District Parent/Guardian:

Now that the first quarter of 2020 - 2021 and parent-teacher conferences have concluded, it is time to look forward. To support a smoother transition for class and teacher assignments, we have already begun planning for the start of 2nd semester.

If your student is staying in their current school, no action is required.

To ensure as seamless a transition as possible, we have set a deadline of November 6, 2020 for families to indicate if they plan to move from Boise Online School to their neighborhood school or from their neighborhood school to Boise Online School for the second semester. To ensure a stable educational environment for both students and teachers, students will remain enrolled in either Boise Online School or their neighborhood school for the full semester.

Please notify your school if you are requesting a change of placement for Second Semester, January 11, 2021- May 27, 2021 by Friday, November 6, 2020.

Changes may include:
  • Student(s) who are currently in Boise Online School and want to enroll in your neighborhood school OR
  • Student(s) who are currently in your neighborhood school and want to enroll in Boise Online School

The November 6, 2020 deadline will allow the time that is needed for our counselors to work with students to set course schedules as well as fully staff the course needs for all of our students. With six full weeks to work on any enrollment changes, we will be able to provide elementary and secondary students their schedules/teachers by December 18th.

It is also important to note that if we experience a significant shift in enrollment (in either option), your child may have a different teacher. We will work extremely hard to not change teachers unless we have a large number of students shifting. To lessen this probability, the sooner we know a family’s intent, the more time we’ll have to mitigate the impact of large numbers of students changing their learning environment. While November 6th may seem soon for this decision, our intention is to make the second semester as positive of an experience as possible for your student. We deeply appreciate your cooperation.

Sincerely,

Boise School District Administration
