2026 SUMMER DRIVER'S ED DATES:

FIRST SESSION:  In person at Fairmont Jr High

Tuesday May 26th & Wed May 27th (class only) 
Thursday May 28 - Drive only for some students.
NO CLASS Friday May 29
After the first week it is Monday through Friday, June 1st through June 26th  (No classes or driving June 19th).

First session will run in three blocks:

Block 1:  
*  7:00 to 8:30 class with drive time from 8:30 to 10:00.
*  8:30 to 10:00 class with drive time from 7:00 to 8:30.

Block 2:
*  10:00 to 11:30 class with drive time from 11:30 to 1:00.
*  11:30 to 1:00 class with drive time from 10:00 to 11:30.

Block 3:
* 1:00 to 2:30 class with drive time from 2:30 to 4:00.
* 2:30 to 4:00 class with drive time from 1:00 to 2:30.



SECOND SESSION:  Online class & drive in person at Fairmont Jr High

Classes are Tue, Wed and Thurs starting June 30th. Last class is July 30th, but there will be drives July 31st.
Classes are 2 hours each from 10:30 - 12:30.
The in-car portion will be scheduled with the In-car instructors anytime other than the class times. First possible drive day is July 1st.

*Students that need extra support (IEP, 504 or ML) should register for the 7:00am, 8:30am or 10:00am class during the first session. *Schedules are subject to change

*DRIVE schedules are separate and will be determined by the end of the first class.

*Registration for each session closes two weeks prior to the start of the session.


It is extremely difficult to make up missed classes and drives. If you know you will miss, please sign up for a session of which you can attend every class.
The maximum number of class hours a student can miss before being dropped from the class is 6. No refund will be given.
The max number of drive hours a student can miss before being dropped is 2. No refund will be given.

COSTS:

  • $315.00 Payment must be made at time of registration online. 
  • A fee of $35 per hour will be charged for any missed classroom or driving time
  • Payment due no later than 3 weeks prior to the start of class.

ADVANCED OPPORTUNITIES:

Students currently attending a Boise School District school may qualify to use Advanced Opportunities for Driver's Ed. Please follow these steps:

1.      Click on this link for information about Advanced Opportunities

2.      Sign the Advanced Opportunities participation form and turn it into the Counselor at the school your student currently attends. Junior High Counselors will request the funding for their students.

3.      Upon completion of steps 1-2, select the $90 Advanced Opportunities tuition option on the payment screen of the Driver's Ed registration form. 

*Reach out to the counselor at your student's school if questions arise regarding Advanced Opportunities, student schedules, or credits

PLEASE READ ALL DETAILS BELOW FOR REQUIREMENTS.

PERMITS:

  • An IDAHO Driver Permit is required BEFORE registering for a class. Please check the Ada County DMV website for the most current information.
  • Students should bring the Temporary Permit receipt to the first day of class.

ITEMS REQUIRED TO OBTAIN A PERMIT FROM THE DMV:

  • AN ORIGINAL CERTIFIED BIRTH CERTIFICATE AT THE TIME THE PERMIT IS PURCHASED. 
  • PHOTO IDENTIFICATION (student activity card, military ID, or passport) 
  • SCHOOL VERIFICATION OF COMPLIANCE (V.O.C) (LINK LOCATED IN THE UPPER LEFT COLUMN OF THIS WEBSITE)  Obtained from the office at your child’s school BEFORE SCHOOL IS DISMISSED FOR THE SUMMER … THESE CANNOT BE OBTAINED AFTER SCHOOL IS OUT FOR THE SUMMER.
  • Home schooled students will require an affidavit which must be signed by their parents. The DMV will provide the affidavit.
  • SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS 
  • The student and a legal parent must both go get the permit because both will have to sign for the permit.
  • Students are required to take and pass a vision test to receive a permit.
  • Tell the staff at the Ada County License Department to send the permit to Boise School District.

CANCELATION/REFUND POLICY:
If a student needs to cancel their Driver Education registration, the Driver's Ed office must be contacted by calling 208-854-4026 or emailing [email protected].

Refunds will be issued based on the following: 

  • 100% refund if request is prior to 3:00 pm 2 weeks before the first class.
  • 50% if request is prior to 3:00 pm 1 week before the first class
  • No refund 1 week prior to the first class
